After the adrenaline-pumping playlist, we thought it was only right to slow things this week. Fostering a sense of solace and serenity, these five songs not only tackle all things calm and collected, but they’re also downright cool. Allow these guitar-driven grooves to ground you a little, all the while teaching you something along the way.

Starting things off is the swoon-worthy single, “Birds of Prey” brought to us by Los Angeles-based folk-pop artist Emily James. The ever-so-intimate track speaks of infatuation-reflection, much like the soft love-song, “Time’s Fool” by Haroula Rose. Decorated by harmonies and gentle guitar strums, this single slows down time and creates a calm space for love to flow without outside intervention.

Next up, Carli Brill’s “Kaleidoscope” is the song we can’t get out of our heads. Embodying all things cool, calm, and collected, the single is equipped with retro-inspiration, imaginative and intelligent lyricism, and an overall sultry style. With the sentiment of self-discovery, Brill is showing the world who she is and putting us all under her spell along the way.

If you were searching for the acoustic track of the season, look no further. Blake Rose is cementing himself as an artist to keep an eye on with the serene yet strong offering that is “Confidence.” Exuding the same intoxicating indie energy,  Joel Jerome takes things a bit more folky with “We Made It Home.” Although the lyrics focus more on the end-of-life rather than new beginnings, it aligns will of the music above in that it feels comforting, hopeful, and soundtracks a moment under the sunshine.
