L.A. Takes Another Step Toward Banning Vape Products
New considerations would allow for hookah and certain smoking lounges, but the future looks grim for vape and e-cigarette products.
Here today, gone tomorrow in a puff of smoke? The LA City Council has pushed forward a proposal that would ban the sale of flavored tobacco products in L.A. County, but the proposal is nowhere near as stringent as the initial conversations were back in October. For example, under the new regulation, legally operating smoking lounges would still be able to do business with the 21+ crowd, but the business licenses would be strictly non-transferable. Menthol cigarettes would also still be allowed, but only in tobacco retail shops geared toward adults. The topic is ever-shifting, but the data remains dire: 48 deaths reported by the CDC due to vape-related illnesses.
