Pali Wine Co. Chardonnay 2018 “Charm Acres” | $28
A friend and I discovered this fantastic bottle on a Santa Barbara visit earlier this year. We’re obsessed and bought up a bunch of bottles for our wine fridge. It’s the perfect wine to toast the end of summer … crisp, refreshing and just a hint of oak. Not your typical Chardonnay. If you get a chance to visit Pali Wine’s tasting rooms (San Diego, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Anaheim and Lompoc), take some time to sample their collection of wonderful wines. One of my favorite finds of 2021.

Mt. Tam from Cowgirl Creamery | Prices vary
When I was living in San Francisco I would make the weekly pilgrimage to the Ferry Building to grab my hunk of Mt. Tam for the week. This best-seller from organic, artisan cheesemaker Cowgirl Creamery is “Brie’s quirky California cousin.” Triple cream with a bloomy rind and washed curd, this cow’s milk cheese is single sourced and forage-based with milk from Straus Family Creamery in Sonoma. Perfectly paired with your California Chardonnay. A must try!

Insect-Repellent Spruce Scarf in Marine | $145
Don’t let the pests keep you from enjoying your sunset. Toss on a mosquito-repellent scarf from Shoo for Good and enjoy the outdoors without slathering on sticky, smelly bug spray. The Santa Monica-based company offers four styles of 100% cotton, sustainably handmade scarves and wraps for men and women that are enhanced to repel insects. The odorless, invisible protection lasts for 70 washings. What’s more, with every wrap sold, a donation is made to Nothing But Nets, the United Nations Foundation’s effort to combat malaria by providing families with protective bed nets and other resources.
